She frequently appears on the late-night show Gutfeld! and hosts The FOX True Crime Podcast with Emily Compagno on Fox News Radio. Compagno is also a #1 New York Times bestselling author and former NFL cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders.

Early Life
Emily Rose Compagno was born on November 9, 1979, at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, California, where her father served as director of a blood bank. She was raised in El Cerrito, California, alongside her two sisters, Natalie and Julietta.
Her parents are Katherine Bertsch, of English, Bohemian, and German descent, and John Compagno, of Italian descent from Sicily. Emily comes from a military family with a strong tradition of service. Her father served as a Commander in the U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps, while two of her uncles served in the U.S. Army.
The family’s military heritage runs deep, with her great-grandfather and many other relatives serving in World War I. In 1930, Compagno’s great-great-grandmother Rosa participated in the Gold Star Mothers Pilgrimage to visit the graves of her children overseas.
Education
Compagno graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Washington, where she was awarded the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps’ Cadet of the Quarter Award, though she did not complete ROTC training.
She then pursued her legal education at the University of San Francisco School of Law, earning her Juris Doctor in 2006. During law school, she served as president of the Federalist Society and articles editor of the Intellectual Property Law Bulletin.
Career
Legal Career
After passing the California bar in 2006, Compagno began her legal career as a criminal defense attorney in San Francisco. She worked as a Senior Judge Judicial Extern for the late Honorable John T. Noonan at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
She later served as a federal attorney at the Social Security Administration, where she worked as a federal managing attorney and Acting Director. Her legal experience encompasses criminal defense, civil litigation, fraud, regulatory, administrative and agency matters, budget and efficiency, contracts, labor and employment, and bargaining unit/union matters.
Compagno has held legal positions internationally, working in Cape Town, South Africa, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She also passed the Washington state bar exam, expanding her legal practice.
NFL Cheerleading Career
While practicing law in San Francisco, Compagno simultaneously served as captain of the Oakland Raiders cheerleading squad, the Raiderettes, from 2007 to 2010. The NFL selected her as an ambassador to promote the NFL brand in Beijing and Shanghai, China.
She was one of five NFL cheerleaders chosen by the USO to visit U.S. troops stationed in Iraq and Kuwait, demonstrating her commitment to supporting military personnel.
Television Career
In 2018, Compagno joined Fox News Channel as a contributor and legal analyst. She initially served as a semi-regular co-host of the weekday talk show The Five and began making regular appearances on Gutfeld!, offering legal analysis and commentary on current events.
In March 2020, she launched Crimes That Changed America, a show on Fox Nation that debuted its first season to positive reception. The program showcased her expertise in criminal law and legal analysis.
Compagno was named a permanent co-host of Outnumbered in January 2021, joining Harris Faulkner and Kayleigh McEnany. The daytime news and talk show airs weekdays at 12 PM ET on Fox News Channel.

Emily Compagno married Peter Riley on September 13, 2017, in an intimate ceremony at an 11th-century villa in Ravello, Italy. The couple reportedly knew each other as teenagers in Seattle before reconnecting as adults and developing their relationship.
